Rainy Days

John Coltrane-Naima
from Giant Step (Atlantic, 1959)

Seems like Autumn came to visit New York a little early. . .at least for these last couple of days. Most people have been complaining, but I don't mind it. I mean sure, summer is nice. But nothing beats a good, cold, rainy, autumn day. It's the kind of day I like to throw on some Coltrane.

Now it was decided earlier today, in a very deep debate, that Bird is the definative god of the Bebop era. Very few will argue with that statement. But I have to say, Bird doesn't compliment a rainy fall day the way Coltrane does. So for those of you in New York City. Looks like we got one more rainy day. . .and it goes great with this track. Enjoy.

Some Like it hot. . .

. . . and those who do should check out the new Wax Poetics Record Rundown. Check in every Thursday @ 12am to hear DJ O. Mann, DJ J. Kirby, and yours truly DJ Rios-live on East Village Radio. Oh. . .what's that? You ask what kind of music? The Good kind of music. Tune in.
